Energy flows where attention goes. How does this sit with you? Have you noticed that what you focus on shows up in your life in some form or another? For example, most of us have probably heard the cliché ‘when it rains it pours’ or maybe you’ve found yourself saying “this always happens to me, why does this always happen to me!!” On the up side maybe you’ve set your mind on getting a car or a house or a new job and you thought “by golly I will have it!” Well, maybe not ‘by golly’, but something like that, and what happened? Most likely you got it, maybe not exactly as you thought you would, but you got it. All day long we are having conversations in our head with ourselves, about ourselves and/or about others. If we tune into those conversations not as a participant but instead as an observer, we can get a glimpse of what we are focused on.

Sometimes we are very aware of what our focus is and sometimes we are not so aware of what our focus is, but there is mental chatter nonetheless. What’s important is that 1) We get first and foremost, that we are co-creating our experiences via our thoughts, emotions, actions and re-actions, and 2) We get present to what our focus is, to the stories we are telling ourselves, to our interpretations.

Now, one need not believe that they co-create their reality or their experience, one need only to observe their life and their thinking to see this fundamental principle play out. Think of it more as an experiment than a belief and see for yourself what your predominant thinking is and what your habitual actions or re-actions are, and see if these in any way relate to your life experiences and outcomes.

If you can expand your awareness to see this correlation between the energies you put out and what comes back to you, you are already on your way to being the master of your own energies. In gaining the awareness of “we reap what we sow”, of “what goes around comes around”, of cause and effect, we begin to recognize our role in our life’s outcomes and experiences. The good news is that if we purpose to transform the way we think and transform who we are being, we can stop living as victims-we can stop living as the effect of things and start living as the cause of things. This is where our personal power lies. In our being responsible for our own energies and what we put out we gain a sense of empowerment because if we don’t like the results we are getting, we know where to go to change that…within in our own selves. But it takes focus, it takes paying attention, and when we begin to deliberately focus our energy instead of haphazardly and semi-consciously focusing our energies we really see and experience our personal power in co-creation. We are always doing it. The question is “what am I creating?”

To help us understand further, here is an excerpt from The Kybalion explaining this idea of cause and effect, of what we put out we get back.

“The majority of people are carried along like the falling stone, obedient to environment, outside influences, and internal moods, desires etc., not to speak of the desires and wills of others stronger than themselves, heredity, environment, and suggestion, carrying them along without resistance on their part, or the exercise of the Will. Moved like pawns on the checkerboard of life, they play their parts and are laid aside after the game is over. But the Masters, knowing the rules of the game, rise above the plane of material life, and placing themselves in touch with the higher powers of their nature, dominate their own moods, characters, qualities, and polarity, as well as the environment surrounding them and thus become Movers in the game instead of Pawns—Causes instead of Effects…there is no such thing as Chance.” (The Kybalion page 180-182)

Commerce is a game that we are all playing whether we know it or not or whether we acknowledge it or not. Most of us have been pawns in this game because we haven’t known the rules of it. But that is changing. We can deliberately focus our energy on being a sacred creditor, being the actual change in our own life that we wish to see on the outside. It begins on the inside and eventually in some form, shows up on the outside. So what are you co-creating for yourself? If you are not pleased with it, then step into the powerful creator that you already are and shift your focus onto something that pleases you–live it, breathe it, BE it and let yourself be dazzled as you watch the outside come into alignment with your inner shift. All it takes is a willingness to transform and here is where your sacred journey begins from debtor to creditor, from slave to sovereign. To our freedom!!!
